EPL - How I See It

I came across this article and feel to share it with EPL my readers. I believe every lover will enjoy it.

"So the Chairman of Chelsea has all the money that is supporting the club, he can get any world class player to his club in the twinkle of a dime and the best coach without any hesitation. I wonder why then should he control the decision the best coach makes? I guess he has the money but he still lacks the faith in his choices.

The club owners of Arsenal are business minded people, they look at their balance sheet and see the dollars and smile. They want to stay in the comfortable zone and are risk averters. These guys sacrifice the pleasure of the fans for the positive bank balances that is why they always play second fiddle in the league; they do not have the tenacity to go all the way. It is unfortunately not clear to them that if they starve their fans it will soon show on their balance sheet.

I just do not know what is wrong with Liverpool, they seem to have problems with team spirit or they had the wrong coach at the onset of the season. It seems though that they are coming back on track. For a team that had taken it to the wire with Manchester United a few seasons ago and almost facing relegation at one point, the inconsistency is appalling.

As for Manchester City it is falling in the trap of Real Madrid, bringing all the stars and expecting instant results. There is a lack of junior development and it has affected the progress in their team. The belief in instant results has resulted in a state of urgency all the time at the club, ever heard off a patient build up?

So when the top teams are faced with such challenges before they even get on the pitch, I believe they are already behind, with an own goal. This becomes apparent when they face a well drilled Manchester United team that has a coach who has full control of his team without outside influence from the rich owners. Sir Alex Ferguson knows how to deliver for the team to be on the right path. Sir Alex believes in grooming youngsters as well to take up positions in the first team and there is a great spirit of teamwork and a culture of work. He has brought in a never say die approach, well displayed in the 1999 treble win.

So as a Manchester United fan, I would like to say thank you to all the teams in the English Premier League, because as I see it, they are hailing us to the pole position, they are our biggest support system because of their flaws. This season it has been very open considering that as Manchester we have not played our "A" game.

Tottenham Hotspur of The English Premier League Looks Towards India

Some English Premier League Teams are looking for new opportunities in Asia. Tottenham Hotspur seems not to be left out in this quest as there are indications that the team is planning to make India a place to train grassroots players and coaches also. This was revealed by the clubs Head of football development Mark Jones. From all indications, this deal will be sealed in the next six months.

According to Jones, the Spurs are interested in an Indian Partner whose job would be assisting the club to know the culture before final touches can be put in place. He stated this at the Thai capital during the Yamaha ASEAN Under-13 football tournament.

"Finding regional support with local coaches helps us understand how things run in the country. Over a period of time, we can develop the Indian coaches too." He said. Making football a part of the school program will also be of great interest to the team.

It is not only Tottenham Hotspur that has shown interest in Indian football. Fellow Premiership sides like Arsenal and Chelsea have also indicated interest. The difference is that according to Jones, Spurs have a long-term plan.

He said the greatest challenge with the Indian boys is to help them work more on their movement off the ball. He also believes that Asia has a huge potential that needs to be tapped and that the players need proper coaching.

"The focus and the intent is there. But they need to learn to get off the ball and work on their movement off the ball," he said.

"Then it will be a lot easier for them to find spaces in one-two passing. But if you are not spending time off the ball, you are making it difficult for yourself."

An agreement has been reached between Tottenham and Football Focus Asia, a marketing firm with the launching of Spur’s Asian development program in Malaysia. In this arrangement, the focus will be on footballers between the ages of 10 and 18. The will have the benefit of training with Spur’s team of coaches.

As part of their Asian program, Tottenham Hotspur is already setting out a full-time academy in Singapore. This will no doubt help grassroots teams from the region improve on their standard of play as they will also have opportunities of regular training and camping visits to England.

English Premier League Games: The Best In The World?

It certainly will be difficult to argue that any other league in the world is better than the English Premier League Games. When you consider that no other league is as televised as the EPL. One can also comfortably argue that it is the most televised and richest league in the world. The prize money for the league winners is also the best you can get anywhere not to mention the television rights running into millions of Pound Sterling.

Over the past five years, you always find clubs from the Premiership making very good impact in the prestigious UEFA Champions League. In 2005, Liverpool was champions of Europe while Arsenal played in the finals in 2006. It even became better in 2008 when two Premiership clubs (Manchester United and Chelsea) played the final of the UEFA Champions League. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea each has at least played in the semi-finals these past 6 years. In 2010, Manchester United played in the finals once again. No other league in the world can boast of this kind of achievement in the Champions League.

Some years ago many players especially Brazilian players preferred to play for other leagues in Europe like the German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and so on; but the story has changed of late. Every world class player looks forward to playing in the Premiership. This must be the reason the English Premiership League Games is now the rallying point for world class stars. You find great players from Brazil, France, Nigeria, Argentina, Portugal, Ivory Coast and other great football playing nations in the Premiership.

As we wait for the 2011 – 2012 season to resume in August, expectations are high as to the new players that will be joining the Premiership from other leagues around the world. It is hoped that these set of new players together with those already in the league will make the Barclays English Premier League still more prestigious, exciting, entertaining and glamorous. The millions of fans from around the globe will definitely not be disappointed when action resumes at the various pitches in England.

Is The English Premier League Soccer Really The Most Popular?

From all indications, it very easy to say that the English Premier League Soccer is not just the most popular but also the most exciting league in the world as at this moment. With football being the most popular sport, it can also be said that the Premiership is the most popular sporting activity. It is the best football league and attracts a very high media attention. The media cannot help but report the activities of this league and this singular act also helps in increasing the popularity.

The unfortunate thing here is that though the English league is the best, the English National team has failed to record much success at the international competitions. The Premier League is popular due to a number of reasons which include the following:

The Premiership records most goals when compared to other leagues. Winning, they say is about scoring. Fans enjoy goals. In fact, that is the main reason they go to the stadium or have their eyes glued to their television. Once a goal is scored, everybody celebrates it; from the scorer to the team mates, the coaches and the fans.

The English Premier League Soccer has very strong teams with very high level of confidence. Each team fight very hard to be among the top 4 that will play in the European competitions and when it becomes obvious they will not make it, they fight even harder to avoid being relegated. The teams have a positive approach to playing. They don’t play not to lose; they play to win.

Most of the greatest clubs in the world are there in the league. Clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool are any fan’s choice any day. They enjoy very strong followership all over the globe.

The league enjoys a good gathering of world class star players. Every great player that has not played for the EPL looks forward for an opportunity to be there. Success goes with followership. For each star player in the Premier League you have thousands of fans watching his game. Players like Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogber, Stephen Gerrard, etc bring a lot of fans to the league.

The power of the media is another reason the league is the most popular. There is hardly any newspaper in the world that does not have regular news and update about the premiership. The same goes for television stations around the world. This keeps fans abreast of all the fixtures, scores and every bit of exciting information.

Former Players In The English Premier League Now Playing In The (Major League Soccer)

There are some big names planning to move to the USA to play their football in the Major League Soccer (MLS). These players were former players in the English Premier League. You have the likes of Robbie Fowler, Robert Pires, Markus Hahnemann and Mateja Kezman among others.

These players will definitely make a difference in the MLS. It is expected that the stadia will experience some reasonable increase in the number of spectators. This may however last for only a few weeks as these players had already played out their best days. They may not play for a long time again before they finally “hang their boots”. The MLS should better look for younger players instead of the aging ones. These younger players will make better and lasting impact in the league. Take for instance the case of David Beckham; he was in his early thirties when he joined LA Galaxy. The same goes for Henry when he joined the New York Red Bulls. They both proved their worth. On the contrary, a player like Robert Pires is already 37 and may not make any reasonable impact considering the fact that apart from his age, he was mostly a “bench warmer” in Aston Villa before his release.

Players in their early twenties are what the MLS will need to improve their playing standard. If they need players with Premiership experience to improve their league, then, they do not have any other choice other than young skillful players.

Here are the current Players in the MLS with English Premier League experience. The number of Premier League Appearances is there in brackets:

Didier Domi - New England Revolution (67)

Landon Donovan - LA Galaxy (10)

Terry Dunfield - Vancouver (1)

Juan Pablo Angel - LA Galaxy (175)

David Beckham - LA Galaxy (265)

Jay De Merit - Vancouver Whitecaps (32)

Carl Robinson - NY Red Bulls (6)

Teemo Tainio - NY Red Bulls (88)

Ousmane Dabo - New England Revolution (25)

Richard Eckersley - Toronto (2)

Caleb Folan - Colorado Rapids (38)

Theirry Henry - New York Red Bulls (254)

Kasey Keller - Seattle Sounders (201)

The English Premier League -Amazing Club's Debt

<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

In a bid to outdo one another in the game of attracting the big players to their side, coupled with huge wage bills, some of the big teams in the English Premier League are finding themselves in debt. From the financial year 2009-2010, we give you the top 5 clubs with the biggest debt, making use of figures from Deloitte.

1. Chelsea - 733 million - The good news (if you can call it that) about this debt for Chelsea is that most of it is owed to Roman Abramovich. What it means here is that they will not be paying millions in interest unlike the other clubs. Not the best, but some comforting news you may add.

2. Manchester United – 590 million – Manchester United enjoys a lot of goodwill, what with their achievements the last season. The huge debt though has to do with the Glazer family offloading their debt unto the club.

3. Fulham - 190 million – There is nothing to cheer about this huge debt from a club like Fulham. They are nowhere among the top 4 teams in the English Premiership League. The need as much funds as possible to get great players and see how they can move up the table. There is no way this amount in debt can help them.

4. Liverpool - 143 million – The 50 million Liverpool got for Fernando Torres would have helped them in reducing their debt, but they spent it on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. This can be good news if with the help of these players they are able to move to the top 4 and enter the lucrative Champions League. The unfortunate thing for the club is that most of the debts are bank loans which translate to big amounts in the form of interests.

5. Arsenal - 135 million – One would think that the Average Arsenal fan will be happy with this figure considering the fact that about a year ago, the club owed twice the amount. However, most fans prefer that more money should be invested in the players. Keeping the good ones instead of just allowing them leave and getting more world class players to help the club go back to winning ways; an idea the manager Wenger does not seem to be considering.
